Founded in 2006 to promote cross-disciplinary research and education, and innovation transfer in the multidisciplinary area of large-scale data and search, the Institute is co-sponsored by industry contributions, the National Science Foundation, Florida International University and the Indiana University School of Informatics. DSI was formed to fulfill two primary missions. Secondly, DSI seeks to educate the next generation of technologists and informaticians in the multidisciplinary aspects of this vitally important emerging field.
